CBMC Purpose: The purpose of Christian Business Ministries Canada is to challenge men and women to commit themselves to Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour and Lord and to work with them to be His followers in both their personal and work lives.

We serve the greater Barrie area/Central Ontario for this purpose.

CBMC History: CBMC was started in the U.S.A. in the 1930's and spread to Canada by the late 1940's.    CBMC Canada was started either in 1947 or 1948 but the Barrie chapter was incorporated as a charity in 1948 with its first chair being Les Cooke who later served multiple terms as the Mayor of Barrie in the 1960's and 1970's.    Ellsworth Beers was the first treasurer and he was the treasurer of Emmanuel Baptist as well for many decades.

In 2000 under the leadership of Canadian Executive Director, Gerry Organ, the name of the organization changed to Christian Business Ministries Canada to reflect the direction God was taking the ministry, recognizing the increasing number of business women in the marketplace.

Current Structures: In 1988 monthly luncheons were commenced and have continued to the present time.    Periodic special outreach breakfasts, and various small study or discipleship groups have also continued from that point in time to the present.    Perhaps the most interesting study group is CORPATH which disciples men and women to particularly see their work as a vocation from God and a means to serve God with their particular time and talents.

The monthly luncheons currently are at The Southshore Community Centre on Lakeshore Dr. on the second (2nd) Wednesday of each month at 12:00 noon and end at 1:00 p.m. sharp.    They involve business men and women telling their story of how they came to know Jesus and how that relationship is impacting their lives at home and at work.
